MedEdPrep Post-ACCREDITCON Q&A

This is a short list of some of the most common questions we were asked during the ACCREDITCON conference this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team, and we will answer any questions you have.

What is MedEdPrep?

MedEdPrep serves as a dual-purpose platform. For students, we are a test prep website to prepare them for the NREMT exam. For Program Directors and other senior leadership, we offer data collection as students complete quizzes on our platform. This data, encompassing over 200 points across our question bank, aids in identifying individual student and program strengths and weaknesses. The collected data can provide insights into:

• Total school performance
• Satellite location performance
• Individual instructor performance
• Student performance

Do you offer unit exams?

While we currently don’t offer unit exams, we are a resource for students to prepare for the NREMT exam by providing exposure to diverse content in the form of quizzes and study guides. We want to provide students access to a breadth of material that gives them exposure to content, provides a way to see how they are performing, and also allows your program to be able to help your students who may need help. Our process is intended to help improve first-time pass rates and help identify weaknesses in those who do not pass that first attempt to allow them future success.

We’re working on a process to ensure question validity in compliance with the standards in the documents released by CAAHEP and CoAEMSP, which will allow us to offer these in hopefully the near future.

How does the registry simulator work?

Our registry simulator utilizes questions graded on Bloom’s Taxonomy scale from levels 1-5. Depending on a student’s performance, the simulator adjusts the difficulty level to provide a wide array of questions, enhancing comprehensive learning.

What types of questions do you offer?

Currently, we provide single-choice and select-all-that-apply questions. Our future plans include the addition of more interactive formats such as “Drag and Drop”, “Connect the terms” and others. While we intend to follow the NREMT structure with the En Route, On Scene, and Transport phase questions, this option will not be available in the near future.

How do you ensure question validity?

Our team, composed of instructors, providers, and an ER physician acting as a medical director, meticulously review questions to ensure their relevance and validity. We cross-verify our findings with the most current textbooks and medical journals, ensuring our content aligns with the learning and performance objectives being tested. We are creating a system that will provide a tracking system that will meet the CAAHEP and CoAEMSP standards in regard to question validity. This new system will allow us to be able to provide programs with unit exams. 

How do you collect data for the programs?

The data we collect is procured solely when students use our platform, either when they take a regular quiz or use the registry simulator.

Do you offer free trials of a program director account?

There was something about high schools and their students, can you explain what that is?

Ultimately, we are looking to sponsor high schools that are hosting EMT classes during students’ junior/senior years.
